Asthma Camp - July 29-August 3, 2007

Announcing the Seventeenth Annual

Camp Catch Your Breath is a residential camp for children with asthma. This week long camp is held at Jackson's Mill in Weston, West Virginia and provides a fun and educational experience for children who might not otherwise get to go to camp.

During the education session, children will learn by sharing their experiences, making decisions about their conditions and expressing their feelings about living with asthma. In addition to the educational component, children will participate in games, sports, swimming and crafts.

Campers will be supervised by staff from participating hospitals and the American Lung Association. A physician, Dr.                                           Cathy Jones, will be present at all times and emergency medical support will be readily available. The camp director,                                                 Sonny Hoskinson, is a registered pharmacist at United Hospital with fourteen years experience in coordinating asthma                                      camps. Co-director, Chantal Centofanti-Fields, is with the American Lung Association of West Virginia and has twelve                                       years experience in coordinating asthma camps. Camp is staffed by nurses, respiratory therapists and a nutritionist.

The 2007 camp is July 29 to August 3 and is open to children ages 8 to 13. The fee for camp participants is $60 ($70 if registering after June 15, 2007). A limited number of scholarships are available.

Camp is co-sponsored by United Hospital Center in Clarksburg. Also participating are Cabell Huntington Hospital, Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital, Jefferson Memorial Hospital, Charleston Area Medical Center and Ohio Valley Medical Center.
